If you are at least 70 1/2 years old in 2011 a part of the Tax Relief Act of 2010 allows you to make a tax free transfer from an IRA directly to the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra. These gifts can fulfill some or all of your required minimum distribution without increasing your taxable income. So, you can save taxes while making a contribution to the RSO.
