Biographies
JULIANNE BORG
Soprano JULIANNE BORG made her professional
opera debut at the Brooklyn Academy of Music
singing the roles of Virtù and Valetto in Monteverdi’s
L’incoronazione di Poppea. Last fall she appeared with
the New York City Opera as Micaela in Carmen,
marking her seventh season with the company, after
which she went to the Skylight Opera Theater as
Violetta in La Traviata.
Since she began singing with the New York
City Opera, Ms. Borg has performed in numerous
roles, including Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Pamina
in The Magic Flute, Musetta in La Bohème, Beth in Little Women, Serpetta in La
finta giardiniera, Ygraine in Ariane et Barbe-Bleue, Cleone in Ermione, and Nella
in Gianni Schicchi.
Internationally Ms. Borg’s career has taken her to France as Flaminia in
Haydn’s Il mondo della luna with the Opéra de Nice in 2006, and her debut with
the Tokyo City Opera in the role of Mimi in La Bohème in 2004. In Toulouse,
France she sang the role of First Niece in Peter Grimes in 2002 and appeared in
2007 with the New York Philharmonic as Die Magt in Sancta Suzanna, conducted
by Riccardo Muti. She returns to the Philharmonic in December of 2008, singing
the role of Fifth Maid in Elektra with Lorin Maazel on the podium.
