Upcoming Events  -  RSO Benefit Performance  -  March 22nd

50 years.  Five decades.  Two score and ten.  However you describe it, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra has reached an important milestone, our fiftieth year!

In celebration of our fiftieth year of service, we are presenting a very special concert event for our patrons and community.

Join us on Sunday, March 22nd, 4:30 pm, at the visually stunning and acoustically perfect new Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut University in Danbury.  The program includes audience favorites- Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik and Violin Concerto #3, with virtuoso RSO Concertmaster Jorge Avila as soloist; Copland's Appalachian Spring in the original chamber version; and Johann Strauss Jr's immortal Blue Danube Waltz.

But that's not all!  Pre-concert festivites include cash bar and hors d'oeuvres, special historic displays, and historic recordings of the RSO in concert!  And most importantly, join us in honoring those individuals- volunteers, musicians and community members- whose tireless efforts and generosity have made all that we do for our community possible.

Tickets are $100/person, and are avilable through the WCSU Box Office.  For ordering tickets by phone, call the Box Office at 203-837-8499, or online at www.wcsu.edu/tickets.  Seating is extremely limited, so order your tickets today! For more information on this very special event, visit the concert page on our website.

Celebrating 50 Years at the Aldrich

The RSO isn't the only arts organization in Ridgefield celebrating their 50th year- the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is commemorating their Golden Anniversary along with the RSO during 2014-15.  As part of their celebrations, please join us for a special concert event on Sunday, March 1st, 3:00 pm, at the Aldrich.

Maestro Jerry Steichen is joind by Principal Percussinist Dennis Arcano and NY-based tenor Michael Marcotte in a program that explores the intersection of popular and classical music in the 1960's,  the years of the Aldrich's (and RSO's) founding.  The program looks at the music of the decade- classical, Broadway, movie music and popular- and how they intersected and informed each other.  From Bernstein to the Beatles, from Copland to Midnight Cowboy and everything in between, the "swinging sixties" were a decade of musical innovation and excitement.  A perfect "warm-up" to the RSO's tribute to the great American Songbook and the Rat Pack on March 7th!

Concert is free with museum admission, or free for members and for all children under 18!  Join on March 1st!

Ridgefield Symphony Chorus

Calling all singers!  Interested in joining the RSO in our performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony?  If you have experience as a singer with a chorus we want you! Daniela Sikora is forming the Ridgefield Symphony Chorus for this gala performance. Listening to a concert is fantastic, but participating in a masterwork like Beethoven #9 is an experience unlike any other.  For more information, go to our RSO Chorus page.
